Christ’s Legacy ~ Christ’s Encouragement and Christ’s Mission
This memoriam is about remembering three godly women who are responsible for inspiring encouragement and ultimately led to the existence of April Sky Ministries.
Sarah Angeline Bunton was the Great Grandmother to Jodie. She became a believer as an adult and immediately began to pass on the beautiful Words of Life, of Jesus. She then passed the Legacy of Christ down to her children, one of those being Vera Martinec. Vera was Jodie’s Great Aunt and one of Sarah’s oldest daughters. Vera was always known for her kindness and sweet hospitality. She would often offer a snack, candy, or conversation to anyone who stopped by her house. She displayed encouragement in the smallest of ways, but with a BIG heart.
Last but not least, Sarah also made sure to pass on the Legacy to her youngest daughter Edna Ormsby. Edna ran with the Holy Baton, like no other. She was Jodie’s maternal Grandmother. She took the time to disciple Jodie. Edna was also the biggest fan of Jodie’s writings – even way before she was ever published. Edna never shied away from sharing the Gospel with anyone who God placed in her path, whether that was at a grocery store or sitting quietly on her couch at home. She also showed an amazing love and hope for the Jewish people and their culture. Now, after many years she passed this same baton and Legacy of Christ, onto her children.
Each of these women were extremely influential and inspired Jodie Mitchell and the existence of April Sky Ministries today.
We are honoring their memory by encouraging others to carry on this same Legacy.
It is our prayer that as you are encouraged in whatever way, that you too will seek to leave behind the only kind of Legacy which truly lasts and is lived out as it reaches others for Jesus.
Many memories and stories about Edna Ormsby (Grannie) can be found in Jodie Mitchell’s book, “Legacy “.

In the meantime, here is a video by MercyMe from the movie “i Can Only Imagine” ~ It was the original version which was chosen to remember Grannie.
Therefore since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
