Sweet Stories of HIM…

Faithful

Lately, there have been so many natural disasters of all kinds, leaving people without homes, treasured mementos and lives. This includes the catastrophic flooding that happened in Central Texas, which took precious lives, turning many family’s worlds upside down – affecting their lives forever.

Although it is normal to ask questions when horrible tragedies occur, uncertain days like this tend to knock at our door, with a persistence that if we are not careful can cause us to put all the blame on God. If you are reading this blog now and you are wrestling with questions of your own let’s take a few minutes, and shift our focus away from the unanswered questions and look to God’s Word for His answers.

Since the beginning of time, both trials and tragedies can, and do happen often in life. This is of course a part of life, but not just a part of life, but also a part of death as well. When man and woman were first created by a Perfect God, in the Perfect paradise of Eden – they had “free-will” and chose to SIN. Instantly, everything living, was cursed and later died or started dying continually. But God… being Loving, already had the Perfect Plan in place – so others would have the opportunity to see His Goodness and His Faithfulness.

One such man who experienced God’s Faithfulness, was Noah, and his story can be found in the Book of Genesis Chapters 6-9. I encourage you to read it at a later time because it is an epic story, which showcases more than just one man’s story – but ultimately reveals the very Heart of God and His Love for all mankind. Rather than go into every detail of this story on this blog post, I have paraphrased the story for the sake of time.

Noah was found to be faithful, during a time when there was unimaginable evil. So, God spared him and his family by giving him specific instructions to build an ark that would carry two of every kind of animal both male and female, vegetation and other provisions that would prove necessary.

The ark was to be built to the exact specifications and measurements, and obedience was “key” in this mission for their survival of the flood over the entire earth. For 40 days and 40 nights everything was washed away and perished…

Here are three ways God helped Noah, to see His Faithfulness, and is relevant for our life today.

1) God’s Faithfulness showed Noah that he was not forgotten: Genesis 8:1 says “God remembered Noah” Meaning, God did not forget about Him, his situations, the things he loved or that he and his family were floating endlessly atop the waters. God does not forget us either, even in the times we think he does. We are God’s Sweet Forget-Me-Nots, so we must remember that we are Faithfully LOVED by the God of the Universe. Hebrews 4:13, Psalm 139:1-3, 11, 12, Zephaniah 3:17 & John 3:16.

2) God’s Faithfulness reminded Noah that He cared about Noah’s future to give him Hope. In Noah’s case, once it was time for him and his family (as well as all the animals) to come out of the ark – I’m sure Noah needed to regain a bit more than his sea legs back to find his balance again. So, God reminded Noah of who HE was to him through the Promise of the rainbow. Today, God provides us blessings through the toughest of times, and gives us much to look forward to in this life – even though at times it seems like it’s the end of the world. God has left a visible reminder each time we see the rainbow, to assure us today that He is our Hope and Future.
Jeremiah 29:11-13, Romans 5:5, Hebrews 11:1, & Romans 12:12.

3) God’s Faithfulness continues for Generations to come. God made a way for generations to continue even though the first man and woman chose to disobey God bringing the curse of death and tragically separating mankind from God. Later after the flood… God continued to reach out and converse with humans finding some faithful who loved him back, and leaving the door open for others to choose Him. For whosoever will believe by grace, through faith in Christ alone, an invitation still stands. This is the Perfect Plan of Salvation through His Son, JESUS, who became the Perfect Sacrifice once and for all – defeating the curse of death because He is the Way, the Truth and the Life… These following verses prove JESUS is the Faithful Savior who was willing to redeem what SIN cursed, that we might have eternal life.
John 14:6, John 3:17, Romans 5:8, Philippians 2:6-8, Ephesians 2:8-9, Galatians 2:20, Titus 2:11-14, Hebrews 6:19, & Revelation 19:11.

My sweet friend, God has had YOU on His mind from the very beginning and HE is the only ANSWER needed to address any questions without answers, YOU have this side of Heaven.

Jesus Sweetly… Satisfies,

~ Jodie
