Sweet Stories of HIM…

Thankful

Saying “Thank you” is something that most of us have been taught since we were very young.  Top translators traveling the world will tell you that “Thank you” is one of the first phrases exchanged when learning a new language. The verbal consideration in using it as part of the conversation one has with someone can help break the ice, show appreciation, and bring about a smile. However, on the flip side, to not acknowledge the kindness of a simple “Thank you” can leave hurt feelings, or offend greatly.

Yet, as humans express this sentiment to a Holy God, it should go much further than an exchange of sweet words and deeds, but rather become an act of True Worship. There are many verses all the way from Genesis to Revelation where we can see that this is the case.

The many blessings in our life each day should remind us and prepare us in worship as we offer our praise, honor and thankfulness to a God whose Goodness, Love and Mercies never cease.  Here are two verses which describe these blessings in detail.

Oh, how abundant is your goodness,
which you have stored up for those who fear you
and worked for those who take refuge in you,
in the sight of the children of mankind! Psalm 31:19

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“therefore I will hope in him.” Lamentations 3:22-24

Consider the Book of Psalms. It is filled with much about being grateful for all that God has done, is doing and will do. Two such passages can be found in Psalm 100 and Psalm 111. For both the believer and the unbeliever, these chapters are packed with many Thanksgiving reminders.

My friend, I hope you see by now we have been given much to be THANKFUL for every day – so tell the LORD, THANK YOU!! Next, dive into God’s Word and study both of these passages. Let your thankfulness rise up to the One True God!

One thing is for certain, as you do, your heart will be basted perfectly and will help add flavor to your conversation at the dinner table this Thanksgiving.

This year, don’t just carve the turkey… carve out some time in God’s Word!!

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!  (Psalm 34:8)
