Sweet Stories of HIM…

Impossible…

Have you ever had the kind of day where it felt like things were going really well only to have something unexpected happen, in a not so good kind of way? If so, you might relate to the following story:

One day a few men were in the forest cutting down some trees and everything appeared to be going as planned, until a tree fell and an ax head came off dropping into the muddy water. A young man using the ax had borrowed it and now the ax head was gone. However, this young man instinctively cried out to his leader, in a desperation of what he realized was now an impossible situation.

Before I go any further, I encourage you to read this TRUE story for yourself, found in 2 Kings 6:1-7.

Now, this story took place during the time of Elisha, a prophet of God, as he was leading several other men who were known as sons of prophets. On this day, they were building a place to live, and the men had asked Elisha to go with them. Elisha agreed and they started cutting down trees. The young man whose ax head fell into the water was a son of a prophet, and was asked by Elisha where the ax fell… Then what happens next isn’t anything short of a miracle from God.

Then the man of God said, “Where did it fall?” When he showed him the place, he cut off a stick and threw it in there and made the iron float. And he said, “Take it up.” So he reached out his hand and took it. 2 Kings 6:6-7

Well, once the ax head was back with the young man, it would seem that everyone goes on with the rest of their day and the story ends there.

Chances are you haven’t had to cut down any trees or have lost any ax heads lately, so you might be wondering why am I sharing this story? Simple, because the message of this story is about how God often loves us in those “lost” places where only His heart can reach ours.

Think about it, perhaps, you have misplaced your car keys or worse an important identification card, when you had to be somewhere important. Or maybe it was a moment when you lost something irreplaceable and in that few seconds you felt your whole day turned upside down. Regardless of the need or the size of its importance, our God hears us when we send up prayers for Him to intervene in our situations. Even when some of these situations seem impossible.

My friend, this is the kind of story, that as we believe in a God of possibilities our impossible situations turn into miracles! No matter how big or small, God cares about the details of our life. Personally speaking, I have seen God perform many miracles in my own life, as He has shown me, He Loves me and Cares about me.

Earlier, I was referring to myself, as I prayed and cried out desperately before I found those keys in the same area where I looked several times over. God heard my prayers and kept me from being late for the interview.  Also, I must mention, another frantic moment, was when I wasn’t able to locate my personal I.D. and insurance card, yet God brought to my mind that it was safe inside the pocket of the jacket I was wearing – and just in the nick of time I didn’t have to reschedule that medical procedure or wait for another day.

The takeaway from these stories is this: Are we willing to trust God with the little things? Do you cry out to him in a moment’s notice? Or do you try to handle the big and small things on your own because you feel He is too distant to care about the things in your life?

My friend, knowing JESUS is where you must start!  I pray if you are reading this now and don’t have a personal relationship with Jesus, that you will go to the Scriptures page.

Or, perhaps you have a few impossible situations in your life? I encourage you to pray to God, who makes all things Possible.

You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book. Psalm 56:8
